What is the Process to Apply for an Indian eVisa?
All Brazilian nationals planning to travel to India from Brazil are required to submit their online visa application form for the Indian eVisa minimum four calendar days before the planned date of arrival. You can make your visa application for India as early as 120 days prior to the date of arrival.
The entire online application process may take up to fifteen-twenty minutes which includes submitting the correct documents and paying the eVisa application fees online.
Now, the eVisa is of various categories and it depends on your purpose of visit which eVisa is appropriate for your travel. Each eVisa has its own fees which the applicants can make using a debit/credit card or via e-wallets.
Once the online application form is submitted, then the Brazilian applicant will receive the travel permit i.e the eVisa through email within a few days. It ideally takes up to four days for the eVisa to get approved.
What to Do After the Indian eVisa gets Approved?
The eVisa issued online will stay valid for a maximum of one year from your date of arrival in India. If you are applying for an e-tourist visa, your continuous stay in the country cannot go beyond ninety days, Whereas, travellers who are on an e-business visa may not stay beyond 180 days from the day of arrival.
During your visit to the country of India, you will be expected to carry with you a copy of your Electronic Travel Authorization (eVisa), at all times. Before you begin your journey to India, you must ensure that your Indian eVisa status reads ‘Granted’ on the application website where you applied.
Immigration officers in India will note down your biometric details as soon as you arrive in India. Moreover, it is mandatory for all Brazilian travellers to carry their passport with themselves on which they applied for their eVisa. Only upon inspecting your eVisa will you be allowed to enter the country.

Indian eVisa Mandates for Brazilian Applicants
In the online application form for eVisa, you will be required to fill out certain crucial details about yourself and your travel. The online application form asks for travel-specific details as required by the government of India. These details are submitted in the form of a soft copy or a criteria that Brazilian nationals are expected to comply with to successfully get an Indian eVisa.
A Brazilian applicant will need:
- A passport with a minimum of six months’ validity during the time they are applying for the eVisa
- A return ticket or further journey ticket along with sufficient money to sustain their stay in the country after their arrival.
- A very recent photograph of your face with a clear white background. The minimum size of the passport size picture should be 10 KB and maximum size should not exceed 1 MB; picture format should be in jpeg. Other necessary mandates are: the traveller’s face must appear clear, centred, and the eyes of the person must be open. Ensure you are not wearing any spectacles or your face is under any shadow or borders.
- A quick scan of the passport page showing all your personal details like your name, date of birth, nationality, date of visa expiry, and other essential personal details
In case of special eVisas, Brazilian travellers will also be required to follow certain other mandates. The mandates may include:
- For voluntary courses or short courses, a soft copy of the respective organisation will be needed with its letterhead properly visible
- For the purpose of Indian medical eVisa, a soft copy of the letter from the respective hospital in India with its letterhead and the date of consultation properly visible
- For the purpose of Indian e-Business Visa, you need a letter of invitation from the respective business organisation/party with whom you want to conduct business, along with your business card
- For the purpose of attending a conference in India, you will need a formal invitation from the conference organiser/organising association, and political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs
All these soft copies are required to be submitted along with the application form in PDF format. Please ensure that all documents are between 10KB and 300KB in size. Also, the language of the documents must be English. No documents will be accepted in a language other than English. If submitted, it may lead to the cancellation of your eVisa application.
